Giving new life

Standard

Mark and I have been very lucky to have inherited/be given/donated/scrounge some fantastic bits of furniture.

I am always on the hunt for the next thing to “up cycle” and give new life. The best think about having more space is that it gives me the space to get messy.

So far I have given new life to our bedside tables, 2 little bedside tables for the guest room which were rescued from a bonfire, a broken table and a lovely knee stool.

The big job was the dinning room chairs. I fell in love with fab material that was both modern but with a strong nod to the 1960’s feel of the classic dinning room set mark has. Sadly, the fabric was well over my budget. £300 to do the job

Needless to say I have kept my eye out for any bargains and came across a fantastic one from good old Abakhan in North Wales. A huge role of a delightful teal wool weave plain fabric, perfectly compliments the teak wood and period of the set. and it cost less the £2. A serious bargain for 25m!

Here is my attempt at re upholstery, the buttons were the hardest bit :-)….

2 years on….

Standard

Last Tuesday Mark and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary….. apparently its cotton as the gift….. I stretched this a little and booked a trip on the river Wye.

We started off at Whitney on Wye and floated our way down in the truly peaceful surroundings, the weather was glorious!!

We stopped at Bredwardine and had a picnic on the field we had strolled across  2 years earlier after our beautiful wedding service at St Andrews. Our view was of Brobury house.

After we wandered up the the church and remembered our fab day.

We both loved to be on the river and it truly does get you away from things, the water was very low, we made plans to have a canoe camping week next year…. can’t wait!!

H’Art

Standard

There are so many events happening here, H’art being just one of them

A well put together series of studios and homes for local makers and artists to show their wares.

We had a great chat to Ed Elliot the creator of these most beautiful wooden angels, inspiring.

We also saw this lovely barn which is in the process of restoration. (pics)

We only got to view a few places but very nice nevertheless

Olympic…. tastic

Standard

Well we finally got to see what all the fuss was about re the Olympics and super chuffed we were too!

Not only did we get to stay with the lovely Sarah and Nick and their two gorgeous babies but we had a sunny day at the olympic park.

I was truly in awe of the clever planting and in the main well thought out design of the Olympic park. Loved the water works that created words in droplets (how do they do that)!!!

I have to say nearly shed a tear as a finally saw the AWESOME Cauldron designed by Thomas Heatherwick. Other fans were of course the Velodrome and i can’t wait to see the Aquatics centre with out its ugly side extensions hiding its true beauty

The sport was quite good too!! Seeing Oscar Pistorius victorious final race and several stunning achievements, Loved the remote control minis which carried the javelin really fun idea.

We were lucky enough to sit next to the Boxer family and loved the many mexican waves and huge cheers.

A truly Fab day!!
